The hospital complex annually handles more than 300 necropsies (not counting forensic cases), 9,000,000 laboratory analyses, 36,000 surgical pathology cases, and 100,000 cytologic specimens. University Laboratories serves as a reference laboratory for many regional medical facilities and carries on busy out-reach services. The diagnostic laboratories are modern, highly automated, and computerized. Diagnostic facilities are fully equipped and include electron microscopy, cell culture facilities, cytogenetics laboratories, HLA laboratories, flow cytometry, and state-of-the-art molecular biology and molecular diagnostics facilities.
