Detroit Medical Center - Cytogenetics Technologist
The Detroit Medical Center University Laboratories (DMCUL) has an immediate opening for a Cytogenetics Technologist position.   The Cytogenetics Laboratory is part of the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) in Detroit, Michigan, and has been in operation for over 35 years, and provides a comprehensive selection of cytogenetics services to clients, including molecular studies utilizing fluorescent in situ hybridization and array CGH.

This position is full time, daytime shift.  Duties include cell culture, harvest, G-banding and FISH analysis of amniotic fluid, choronic villi, peripheral blood, bone marrow and tissue specimens. Under general supervision, performs cytogenetic and FISH analysis of specimens received by the laboratory on patient specimens according to established standards and practices. Key areas of responsibility include: accessioning, culture initiations, harvesting, staining, quality control procedures, record keeping and chromosome analysis. Calculates test findings and maintains records. Prepares and determines validity of solutions, reagents, media, stains and various materials in the testing processes.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, or related science. Training in cytogenetics will be provided in the laboratory.
