Dr. Nicole Alyse Croom (she/hers) is a mixed chick from Stockton, CA. She received her BS in Integrative Biology and Physiology from the University of California, Los Angeles before moving back to NorCal to get her MD from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF); taking a “year off” between third and fourth year to get a MPH from the University of California, Berkeley. After graduating from her fellowship program, she worked as a per diem forensic pathologist at the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office in Everett, WA, before moving to Detroit to join the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office as an Assistant Medical Examiner.
Her forensic-related interests include the association between public health and death investigation, emerging infectious diseases, and educating potential future forensic pathologists through mediums such as “Dead Men Do Tell Tales,” the podcast she co-hosted with her co-resident/fellow. In her spare time, Nicole enjoys reading dystopian fiction, kickboxing, thrifting for dresses with pockets, playing cozy computer games, and spending evenings at home with a streaming service, family and furballs, and craft beer.
