Detroit is the most populous city in Michigan (700,000+ people). The metropolitan Detroit tri-county area (Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties) has a population of approximately 4 million people.

The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) and Wayne State University (WSU) are located in the community known as Midtown. The neighborhood includes new and refurbished housing, restaurants, businesses, museums, galleries, theaters, and The Detroit Symphony Orchestra.  South of Midtown is downtown Detroit.  Downtown includes the professional sports and entertainment facilities such as Comerica Park, Ford Field, Joe Louis Arena, Cobo Hall, in addition to many restaurants, theaters and music venues all within minutes of DMC/WSU. 

Housing
Detroit's excellent freeway network gives people the opportunity to find affordable housing (condo, apartment, or house) that meets their particular needs in Detroit or the nearby suburbs.

Sports
Detroit is a great sports town.  Downtown is home of the Detroit Tigers (baseball), Detroit Lions (football), Detroit Red Wings (hockey), and the Detroit Pistons (basketball). Detroit hosts many professional, collegiate, and major league sporting events.  Michigan is home to more than 800 public courses and world class golf resorts.

Parks & Outdoor Activities
Michigan is a four season state which offers year round recreational activities.  In addition to numerous city and state parks, there are 13 Metroparks in the surrounding counties which provide safe, clean environments for picnicking, fishing, swimming, boating, canoeing, hiking, nature study, biking, skating, golf, winter sports and a host of special outdoor programs and events within a short drive for southeast Michigan residents. Detroit's largest city park, Belle Isle, is nearly 1000 acres of island in the Detroit River and approximately 5 miles from DMC/WSU.  

Dining
Eating in metro Detroit is an adventure. From fine dining to delicatessens and breweries, there are establishments to suit any palate, budget, and mood.  The area boasts a wide range of cuisine, including Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Greek, Mexican, Italian, Polish, Asian, vegetarian, soul food, barbeque, steakhouses, seafood, and others.  Michigan is fifth in the nation in the number of breweries, microbreweries and brewpubs, many of which are located in the Detroit area.  For a list of restaurants and reviews see Yelp.com.
